About Us

We Are In A Mission To
Help The Community

Women Rising for Africa is a non profit organisation with the focus on Women empowerment, safe mobility, safety, gender inclusion,  creating new job opportunities and a new set of skills to improve their quality of life and economic independence.

Our Causes

SUPPORT OUR PROJECT

Our WOW program, Women on Wheels, aims to train women in motorbike riding (defensive driving lessons, road safety, highway code and obtaining their driving licence). This allows them to have a new job opportunity and contribute to the community, guaranteeing access to safe mobility.

In addition, the program is complemented by other trainings such as self defense, financial literacy, first Aid course, Family planning and GBV class.

WOW - Women on Wheels

WOW (Women on Wheels) is our main motorcycle riding program. It is being implemented in Uganda, specifically in Kampala and Jinja. Since we were established we have implemented 5 programs with 74 participants from which 58 women have emerged and are already working as taxi or delivery drivers.

Together with local partners, teachers, we aim to increase the number of women riders and their participation in the country’s largest mobility industry.

More opportunities, safer access, more independence, more equality and participation in the economic growth of the country.

Together with SafeBoda

With road accidents set to match HIV/AIDS as the highest cause of death in low/middle income countries by 2030, SafeBoda’s aim is to modernise informal transportation.

When drivers  join the SafeBoda community they see significant increase in their income providing impact to themselves, their family and the wider community.

Today, together with Women Rising for Africa, a program has been created to increase the number of female riders, improving safety and giving the women community the opportunity they deserve.

Safety & Family planning

Women are victims of different forms of violence on a daily basis. For this reason, many women are interested in learning how to protect themselves against violent situations, but may not know how. Also deal with emotional violence and abuse. Martial arts and emotional coaching enable women to develop the mental and physical skills to defend themselves against physical and emotional abuse. We also offer an intensive class on family planning so women can have access to the information and knowledge on planning their lives and future.

Economic Empowerment & First Aid training

Investing in the economic empowerment of women and girls includes women’s ability to participate equally in existing markets, their access to and control over productive resources, access to decent work, control over their own time, lives and bodies and increased voice in meaningful economic decision making at all. Empowering women creates more resilient communities because when women are supported, health among families increases, as does the income and the amount of children that attend school. Also an extensive training of first Aid is provided by ECO of Uganda, with recognized first aid  certification, so women can also be prepared on the road and at home.

Why not women?

What we are doing
in Uganda?

Creating new programs to empower the women community, creating economic independence and gender equality.

Our Mission is to equip women with knowledge, education and new skills, empowering them to become independent entrepreneurs with assertiveness and security, creating a safe supporting community and the opportunity to improve their quality of life as well as entering male dominant industries and labor markets. Gender inclusion is primordial for the well being of our planet.
